Kerala Government’s Vision for Special Schools and Inclusive Education

The Education Minister, V. Sivankutty, stated that the State government is committed to transforming special schools into centers of excellence. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the 24th Special School Youth Festival in Kalamassery on Thursday. In pursuit of this objective, an allocation of ₹170 lakh from the 2023-24 Plan fund has been approved for four schools catering to the visually challenged and three schools for the hearing impaired. The initial installment of ₹90 lakh is set to be disbursed soon.

The distinctive Kerala education model has had a profound impact on individuals, families, and communities, showcasing significant strides in providing education to all students, irrespective of their backgrounds. Government policies and initiatives have played a pivotal role in transforming the lives of differently-abled individuals.

Minister Sivankutty also announced the development of a special sports manual tailored for the inclusion of special children.
