The Class 10 or SSLC final examinations commenced today, March 4, 2024, in Kerala. On the inaugural day of the exams, students in Class 10th under the state board are undertaking their first language paper 1 assessments, including Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Urdu, Gujarati, Additional English, Additional Hindi, Sanskrit (academic), Sanskrit Oriental, Arabic (academic), and Arabic Oriental. These examinations are scheduled to conclude on March 25.
Approximately 4,27,105 regular students are anticipated to participate in the Kerala SSLC examination this year. Among the total registered candidates, 1,43,557 are enrolled in government schools, 2,55,360 in aided schools, and 28,188 in unaided schools.
The examinations will be conducted across 2,955 centers within the state, with an additional nine centers in Lakshadweep and seven in the Gulf region. It is estimated that 630 students will sit for their SSLC final exams in the Gulf centers, while 285 students are expected in the nine exam centers in Lakshadweep.
Prior to the commencement of the board examinations, the Kerala government introduced a toll-free helpline number dedicated to assisting parents and students. By dialing 1800 425 2844 between 7 am and 7 pm, individuals can access the ‘We Help’ service. The state Education Minister, V Sivankutty, announced that mental health counselors trained by NIMHANS Bangalore would offer free assistance through this helpline.
