With Maharashtra State Board exams for Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) just a month away, stress levels among students are rising. This year, the exams will begin 10-15 days earlier to ensure timely results and a smooth transition to the next academic year. Sharad Gosavi, chairperson of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, discussed with Pallavi Smart the rationale behind this decision, along with the board’s efforts to curb malpractices, implement strict measures against paper leaks, and support students preparing for competitive exams like JEE and NEET. Starting the exams earlier aims to provide students more time to focus on these crucial entrance tests, aligning their schedules with peers from other boards.
