The Nanded district administration in Maharashtra has announced free coaching for national-level competitive exams such as NEET, JEE and CET for 200 meritorious students from economically weaker rural families.
The move comes as drought continues to grip Maharashtra, affecting 75 per cent of its districts. Officials said the initiative aims to help students pursue higher education despite the financial strain the drought has placed on families.
Students currently in Class 10 at Zilla Parishad high schools and private aided schools in rural areas will be eligible. They will be selected through an entrance test to be held in December, the district administration said in a release on Monday.
