In response to the severe heatwave alert, the Directorate of School Education, Haryana, has issued shortened school hours from May 18 to May 31, 2024. The modifications are intended to shield educators, parents, and children from the extremely high temperatures that are predicted for the area.
In addition, from June 1 to June 30, 2024, all schools will be closed for summer vacation. On July 1, both public and private schools will resume.
The new hours for Haryana’s single-shift schools are 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Schools that operate in two shifts will have one shift from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and another from 11:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
