The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare today announced that National Exit Test (NExT) has been deferred until further notice.

“All the stakeholders are hereby informed that the National Exit Test (NEXT) examination is deferred on the advice of the Ministry, dated 11.07.2023, till further directions from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare,” the official notice stated.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently announced that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, will conduct the NExT exam. Following this, AIIMS also issued a timeline and started the registration process for a mock test on July 28. However, the Union Health Minister Mansukh L Mandaviya on July 6 announced in an event at AIIMS Raipur that the NExT exam will commence from next year, and would not be conducted for the 2019 batch.

This has caused confusion among final year MBBS students, who are still unclear about whether they have to appear for NEET PG or the NExT exam.
