“Government guidelines” would be followed by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) when it comes to implementing reservation in PhD admissions starting in 2025.
The top business school provided no more details about how the quota system will be used.
Remarkably, the IIMA notified the Gujarat High Court last year that it would begin to reserve spots in PhD programs for students who belong to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), and handicapped people starting in 2025.
Subsequently, the institute was responding to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that Anil Wagde, a member of the Global IIM Alumni Network, had filed in the High Court in 2021, asking for the introduction of reservation in the institute’s PhD degrees.
