Schools have been shut in several parts of Jharkhand, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh as forecasts warn of heavy rain from Cyclone Arnab. The Jharkhand government has ordered schools in several districts to stay closed till October 29.
Along the eastern coast, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have also closed schools, banned sea fishing and put rescue teams on standby ahead of the severe cyclone’s expected landfall. The aim, officials said, is to ensure “zero loss of life and minimal damage to infrastructure”.
