In 2010, when the SDM Institute of Ayurveda & Hospital was established in Bengaluru’s Kumbalagodu Village, it marked a bold vision, to bring authentic Ayurvedic healing to India’s thriving capital city. That vision crystallized in 2015 when the first batch of 100 BAMS students stepped onto a campus designed for excellence, transforming it within a decade into one of the country’s Premier Ayurvedic Institutions.

Academic Distinction and National Recognition 

Since inception, the institution has earned four gold medals and over 150 subject-wise ranks in undergraduate examinations. The achievement extends to postgraduate studies, with consistent rank-holders across Six Clinical Post Graduation Departments. 

In 2024-25, SDM Ayurveda Bengaluru received the coveted ‘A’ Grade with 9th All-India Rank under NABET-QCI and NCISM-MARBISM evaluation, And in 2025-26 NABET-QCI Assessment Making it the only A- Graded Ayurveda College in Bengaluru. NABH accreditation awarded in 2025 further solidified the institute’s commitment.

Revolutionary Infrastructure – First in Ayurveda

The campus showcases pioneering infrastructure that sets it apart: 

  • 3D Digital Anatomy Dissection Lab, the first of its type in any Ayurveda College in India.
  • Skill Lab with Simulations.
  • Samhita Vana, the herbal garden that spans 361 medicinal plant species encompassing 2,817+ individual plants.
  • In-house Pharmacy, a dedicated teaching unit manufacturing 30+ classical medicines for patient care and student learning

The facility is spread across an expansive location featuring 250 beds and eight clinical department clusters, housing 17 general specialty clinics alongside 17 dedicated clinics for chronic and complex conditions. SDM Institute of Ayurveda & Hospital, Bengaluru, stands as the highest patient-volume Ayurvedic hospital in the city in both inpatient and outpatient ratio.

The hospital’s comprehensive care extends beyond traditional Ayurvedic treatments through integrated wellness services. A dedicated Yoga and Naturopathy Unit complements core therapies with acupuncture, cupping, and naturopathic treatments. The Physiotherapy Department includes a specialized pediatric wing, ensuring age-appropriate rehabilitation. One Major Operation Theatre, One Minor Operation Theatre along with Labor room and an NICU Unit for Paediatrics Care.

Specialized clinics address modern health challenges: the Punarnava Clinic focuses on post-stroke rehabilitation and neuro-recovery, tackling one of India’s most critical health crises. The Ojas Medispa offers rejuvenation care merging classical skin and hair treatments with contemporary wellness practices. A Digital Rejuvenation Unit addresses modern lifestyle disorders through eye exercise programs and preventive wellness protocols designed for screendependent populations.

Community Outreach and Rural Impact

All clinical departments conduct regular medical camps and outreach programs. The institution has adopted five villages for comprehensive health screening and diagnostic camps, bringing Ayurvedic prevention and treatment to underserved communities. 

NSS (National Service Scheme) student volunteers actively participate in awareness campaigns, health education, and community engagement on national health days and wellness observances

Research Recognition: 

  • Postgraduate scholars secure research funding from CCRAS (Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha), Ministry of AYUSH 
  • Undergraduate researchers have Won 5-6 CCRAS SPARK and RGUHS Undergraduate Research Projects Annually.
  • Major DST (Department of Science and Technology) multicentric project entitled “Investigate Neuroplasticity Post stroke in Different therapy methods- Allopathy-Physiotherapy Panchakarma & Physiotherapy and Standard Allopathic Medications.
