SDM Institute of Technology (SDMIT), Ujire, was established as a focused response to the higher education needs of the coastal and Malnad Regions of Karnataka. While traditional engineering hubs like Dharwad catered largely to North Karnataka, SDMIT emerged to offer world-class technical education closer to home for students who otherwise faced the burden of long-distance relocation.
