Within the administrative structure of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) University, Smt. Padmalatha Niranjan serves as a vital bridge between high-level strategic governance and the cultural vitality of the campus. As the Executive Director and a member of the Board of Governors, she works in close partnership with her husband, Vice Chancellor Dr. Niranjan Kumar, to ensure that the university’s growth is as much about human values and artistic expression as it is about academic excellence.

The Guardian of Institutional Culture

Smt. Padmalatha Niranjan is widely recognized as the driving force behind the university’s vibrant cultural landscape. She believes that a true Institution of Legacy must nurture the soul alongside the intellect.

She is often the architect of major institutional events like “SDM’S GOT TALENT,” where she encourages students and staff to showcase their hidden creative skills. A talented vocalist herself, she has been known to perform classical Carnatic Kritis at university gatherings, setting a personal example of artistic dedication.

She plays a lead role in organizing large-scale health and wellness initiatives, such as the annual International Yoga Day celebrations, emphasizing the Yoga for Wellness philosophy that aligns with the university’s mission of physical and mental well-being.

Strategic Leadership & Governance

In her capacity as Executive Director, Smt. Padmalatha Niranjan oversees a broad portfolio of administrative responsibilities that keep the university’s complex machinery running smoothly. As a member of the BoG, she participates in critical decision-making processes regarding university expansion, new program approvals (ranging from Biomedical Sciences to Ayurveda), and student intake policies.

Smt. Padmalatha also works collaboratively with the Mr. Saketh Shetty, the Director of Administration to ensure that the university’s infrastructure meets the highest standards of operational efficiency.

A Compassionate Community Leader

Her leadership style is defined by a deep sense of social responsibility, often mirroring the philanthropic spirit of the Dharmasthala tradition.

Beyond the university walls, Smt. Padmalatha maintains a strong connection with social initiatives like the SKDRDP (Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project), where she participates in motivational workshops for supervisors and grassroots leaders. Furthermore, she is a frequent presence at community-centric programs like the “SDM Doctor Arogya Samvada,” a long-running radio and public health initiative that provides free medical advice to villagers across North Karnataka.
