The Tamil Nadu government has issued a mandatory directive requiring all private schools to display government-sanctioned tuition fee structures on their notice boards. This action follows numerous complaints regarding institutions charging exorbitant amounts in excess of established norms.
As schools prepare to reopen on June 4, the School Education Department has warned that any institution found overcharging or collecting “hidden” admission fees faces the immediate cancellation of its recognition. Currently, there are over 13,000 recognized private schools operating across the state.
Fee standards are determined by a specialized committee of educationists and high-ranking officials under the Tamil Nadu Schools (Regulation of Collection of Fee) Amendment Act.
