The Telangana government has mandated Telugu as a compulsory subject for students from grades 1 to 10 in CBSE, ICSE, IB, and other board-affiliated schools across the state, starting from the 2025-26 academic year. This decision aligns with the Telangana (Compulsory Teaching and Learning of Telugu in Schools) Act.

As per an official release, the Act, which required the compulsory teaching of Telugu in government, Zilla Parishad, Mandal Parishad, aided, and board-affiliated schools, was enacted on March 30, 2018. However, the previous administration did not fully implement it for various reasons.

Upon taking office, the new government prioritized the enforcement of Telugu education across the state and has since taken the necessary steps to ensure its implementation.
