Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced that all the government schools in Tripura will be closed for a week. The announcement was made today, on April 17, 2023. The schools will remain closed between April 18 and April 23, 2023. This has been decided considering the prevailing heatwave conditions.
The Chief Minister announced closure of schools through a Facebok post. The CM said that the scorching heat may adversely impact the health of the students. He has announced the closure of all state-run and state-aided schools.
The Chief Minister has also appealed to the private schools in the state to do the same in view of the prevailing weather condition. To be noted that Tripura has 4,226 state-run and state-aided schools with 7.02 lakh students.
Tripura Colleges, universities to remain open
To be noted that closure of colleges and universities has not been announced. All the offices, colleges and universities will function as usual. PTI reports that the mercury is hovering around 37 degrees Celsius in Tripura over the last three days. Rains are unlikely till April 20, weather officials said.
