As admission season approaches, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has published its latest February 2026 list of fake universities operating in India. These 32 unauthorized institutions span 12 states and Union territories, with Delhi topping the count at 12.
The UGC, a statutory body under the Union Ministry of Education, has issued a strong advisory to students and parents. Degrees from these fake universities hold no legal value and won’t qualify for jobs, government roles, or higher education admissions.
