Universities can hold privates exams if seats vacant after CUET

The University Grants Commission (UGC) said on Thursday that in the event that seats in UG and PG courses remain unfilled following admissions through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), central institutions may choose to hold their own entrance tests or accept students based on their performance in the qualifying exam. It emphasized that the major criterion for student admission would continue to be CUET results.

As per the guidelines released by UGC, those who took the CUET but had not applied to the central institutions beforehand “may also be considered” for the empty seats.
