Educational institutions across Uttar Pradesh are closed on Monday, August 10, as the Kanwar Yatra continues, with many private schools switching to online classes to keep lessons on track during the shutdown.
The closures stem from earlier directives issued by district authorities in western UP to manage the heavy movement of Kanwariyas passing through the region. Administrations in Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Muzaffarnagar had already ordered schools shut for the duration of the yatra.
The shutdown applies broadly, covering government and private schools under the Basic Shiksha Parishad, Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, CBSE, ICSE, and Madarsa Board, as well as colleges, universities, and technical institutes located in the affected districts.
