The state government on Tuesday approved the formation of Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission for recruitment of teachers in higher, secondary and basic education departments in the state. The state Cabinet on Tuesday approved a draft of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission Bill, 2023.
The draft mentions that the proposed Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission will conduct the exercise for recruitment of teachers in various institutes of higher education, secondary education, basic education, vocational education, minority welfare and waqf department and labour department.
The government said the step would bring uniformity, transparency in selection of teachers and time-bound completion of the selection process. The commission will have a chairperson and 12 members. The commission will be a regulated body and its headquarters will be Prayagraj.
Once the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission is functional, other recruitment commissions such as UP higher education education service commission and UP Secondary Education Service Selection Board will be dissolved.
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission will be an integrated form of different teacher selection commissions and boards.
In April, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the setting up of an autonomous commission – Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission – for recruitment of teachers in various educational institutes in the state.
The CM passed the directive during a meeting held to review the teacher recruitment processes adopted by different educational institutes.
