The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued comprehensive implementation guidelines for its upcoming three-language policy, set to take effect in the 2026–27 academic year. Designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, these new directives aim to clarify how Indian languages will be integrated into the curriculum without disrupting the studies of current students.
This update follows a CBSE announcement last month making it mandatory for Class 9 students to study three languages, at least two of which must be native Indian languages, starting July 1. The mandate has since faced pushback, with multiple parents and students taking legal action against the board’s decision.
