Inaugurated in the year 2008-2009 at Bakkanapalem, Madurawada, Vishakhapatnam, Baba Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS) is spread on a sprawling campus of 15 acres. BITS Vizag is an institute with a clear motive of making students prepare for tomorrow, ready to face the competitive world. In order to achieve this goal, the college focuses on various parameters, which include excellent academic coaching designed to make sure the students understand the concepts, both theoretically and on a practical level. The college strives hard towards providing equal emphasis on sports and mental abilities which make a student a complete academic.
Personal counseling is given on a regular basis to students, to guide them towards a successful career path, making them achieve excellence in every aspect of their lives as professionals. Initially, when students enter BITS Vizag, they are made to get accustomedto the routine general academic programs and are trained towards perfecting them. “Eventually, during their 2nd and 3rd years, they are encouraged towards the more practical approach of learning, by doing Paid Internship programs at different Govt. level companies and corporate sectors”, quoted Dr. Gopinath, the Principal of the institute, when asked about how students at BITS Vizag are turned into complete professionals.
BITS Vizag has stood out and excelled in the field of educating students and therefore creating brilliant opportunities for them, by having good relations and by having national and international Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with many universities abroad and in India as well.
The Institute has been efficacious in giving students the finest in terms of placements in the form of BYJU’s through which the students have bagged a whopping package of 10.00 lakhs per annum. In addition to the above, BITS also initiated Clubs that facilitate Coding, Culturals and Sport like Codesense, Symphony and many more.
The Institute holds National Level Technical Symposiums, Project Exhibitions, Faculty and Student trade programs, cultural fests, technical workshops and seminars every year, to motivate and spark the inner passion of learning, communicating and collaborating among the students, to prepare them well in advance for the corporate and industry life ahead of them.
Educated at GITAM and Andhra Universities, Dr. Gopinath is an expert in Solid Modeling and Reverse Engineering. An author of several publications and papers in national and international journals, he has delivered lectures in many esteemed colleges and platforms, and has a vast experience in teaching and has served many institutes in AP and Odisha as the Principal.
Being a life member of various professional bodies like ASME, SAE, ISTE, Institution of Engineers (India), HKSME, Condition Monitoring Society of India, Indian Red Cross, Dr. Gopinath is currently working towards making a difference in the field of education, by heading BITS Vizag as the Director of the renowned institute.
Towards Academic Excellence
The teaching at BITS Vizag is unique, thereby concentrating on giving students enough confidence towards making it successfully in the ever-changing corporate world. The faculty at BITS Vizag comprises of a group of exceptional academicians, who are Ph.D. holders as well. The faculty are encouraged to participate in activities apart from just teaching. They regularly engage with the students in their projects and technical fests, instilling a strong student-teacher bond. When questioned about the uniqueness BITS Vizag has to offer for the students willing to make a leap into their Engineering studies, the principal of the institute stated – “For every 20 students, a counselor is allocated, who takes care of every student’s personal and academic needs, their pace of learning and grasping concepts and accordingly they alter their teaching methods.”
The college is loaded with spacious and airy classrooms, there are fully equipped labs and workshops present for the students to facilitate their inner engineers, the college campus houses several conference and seminar halls for collaborative learning and grasping, and there is a fully functional administrative block to ease the students and their parents with the necessary paper work. The library at the Institute consists of both physical and digital books, there are national and international journals present at the library too for the students who are curious and want to learn from more than just books, the library is fully automated with the latest software, including bar coding and microfilming of books. In additional to this, BITS also has a dedicated Air Wing in accordance to NCC.
Apart from associating with International Universities for curriculum and other chronicles, BITS is also the earnest reason for the Academic Initiative – ICMSEA, that’s conducted till date for 4 consecutive years alongside our academic partners – UPHS-Philippines, Kaziranga University, ABES University and such. Through the ICMSEA that is steered every year during the winters, contributors from the Academia and Industry are given opportunities to showcase their developments and contributions to the society at an International Level.
The college is divided into 3 main academic departments, the Technology, and the Science department and the MBA department. The Engineering Department includes courses from all the major branches such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and so on, enabling students to make the right choice at the right time, with the helpful guidance of able management and faculty at BITS Vizag.
