The C.S.I Kanyakumari Diocese with the aim of imparting high-quality engineering education to the students started the C.S.I Institute of Technology in 1995, in the Kanyakumari District. The Diocese is a pioneer in the field of education and is successfully running colleges in every educational field possible, from Science colleges to Nursing Colleges, the Diocese also runs hospitals, many Primary and Higher Secondary schools, a Blind School, Deaf, and Dumb School and Daycare centers in the length and breadth of Kanyakumari District.
“The ultimate goal of CSIIT is to emphasize on Christian moral values and to mold every student to become fit to face the challenges of advancing technology”, stated the Principal of CSIIT, Dr. K. Dhinesh Kumar. The institute provides opportunities for the students to think, to grow, to face challenges out of dynamic learning opportunities and to equip them to take up any responsibilities of the society. CSIIT is home to aesthetically designed building with a well-stocked library, well-equipped laboratories, modern workshops, Seminar halls, and spacious auditorium, and sports and games fields.
CSIIT in a nutshell
The ideals and the ethics followed at the Diocese resulted in the bloom of a glorious institution, which is CSIIT. The institute has successfully contributed towards the society by producing more than 8000 engineers over 20 batches conducted so far. Spread on 45 acres of a lush green campus and a built-up area of 2.25 lakh sq.ft., CSIIT has 6 academic departments and offers 6 undergraduate programs and 5 postgraduate programs. The institute is home to highly qualified and motivated faculty. An extensive infrastructure at the institute helps in imbibing and cultivating knowledge and the right learning at the right time.
Due to the current changes in the market trends and ever-increasing technological and social challenges, the institute prepares the students accordingly using values of tradition, self-discipline, hard work and all-round personality development. In-addition, CSIIT has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.
The campus of CSIIT is home to a library that has 40,000 physical books and About 1000 e-journals, to spark the soul of education, actively performing the functions related to learning, teaching, research and generation of knowledge. The library is modernized and well equipped with the right digital resources. The atmosphere at the library is calm and cozy for uninterrupted and concentrated reading. Excellent on-campus hostel facilities are available separately for boys and girls for their comfortable stay during the course of study. The mess provides hygienic and quality food at a reasonable cost.
Teaching, learning, and Placements at CSIIT
In the process of imparting quality engineering studies to its students, “CSIIT recruits fully qualified and experienced faculty to take up the job of educating the leaders of tomorrow”, stated Dr.K.Dhinesh Kumar. He also added to his statement about the faculty of CSIIT, saying – “The average experience of a faculty at CSIIT is 20 years and more than 80% of the faculty are Ph.D. holders”. The faculty has made 500+ research publications so far and the number keeps rising each academic year. The faculty has to regularly participate in seminars, conferences, and faculty development programs, for up-gradation of their skills and teaching methodologies.
For an educational institute, after imparting quality education and learning, the next step in the process of giving back to the society is to provide ample placement opportunities to boost the career of its students, thereby making CSIIT a pioneer in the placement department. The institute has a dedicated placement cell headed by Chief Placement and Training Officer Dr.D. SwaranVictropsNagson, ably assisted by the department’s placement officers. The primary role of the Placement and Training Cell is to secure placements for the students passing out from the college. This cell keeps a close connection with various industrial establishments and conducts campus interviews. Various skill development programs like soft skill training to improve self-esteem and confidence, regular mock interviews, group discussions through lectures, industrial visits, in-plant training, and project work, help students acquire practical experience well-before the students take up their jobs in the industry.
Milestones at CSIIT
1995- The Institute was established and affiliated to ManonmaniamSundaranar University and recognized by AICTE.
1997 – Construction of separate labs for each department was completed.
2001-Affiliated to Anna University
2008- MBA & MCA Programs started
2009- Received permanent approval from AICTE to attain autonomous status.
2015- Recognized as a research center for Electronics and Communication Engineering
