The Maharashtra government has implemented a new attire policy for school teachers across the state, prohibiting the wearing of t-shirts, jeans, or any shirts adorned with designs or pictures. Additionally, teachers are now encouraged to use the prefix ‘Tr’ before their names.
As outlined in a government resolution (GR) released by the School Education Department, schools are required to establish specific dress codes for male and female teachers.
This directive applies to all schools, regardless of their classification as private, aided, or non-aided, within the state.
“The attire worn by teachers must be tidy. Female teachers are expected to wear either sarees or traditional dresses (salwar, chudidar, kurta, and dupatta), while male teachers are recommended to wear trousers and shirts (tucked in),” stated the resolution.
