A group of 73 retired bureaucrats has called for an urgent, independent, and time-bound investigation into India’s major examination bodies, specifically targeting the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the CBSE’s digital evaluation framework. Writing under the banner of the Constitutional Conduct Group (CCG), the former civil servants highlighted recent controversies, including the NEET-UG question paper leak and issues surrounding CBSE’s Class 12 On Screen Marking (OSM) system.

The open letter warned that recurring failures in national examinations are severely damaging public trust in the country’s education system. They alleged that the integrity of India’s leading testing organizations has been compromised, demanding the immediate implementation of more stringent safeguards to prevent future irregularities.

Focusing on the NEET-UG crisis, the signatories emphasized that the paper leak has derailed the aspirations of over 2.3 million students. They stated that systemic vulnerabilities within the examination process have repeatedly allowed select candidates to gain unauthorized, early access to test papers.
