S. Saravanan’s journey into education began with the gentle encouragement of his uncle, a teacher who sparked his initial interest in the field. This early inspiration was further nurtured by the nuns who taught him during his primary school years, making learning a joyful experience and planting the seeds of his passion for teaching. His commitment to education was solidified by Rev. Fr. A. Arulappan, the headmaster of his high school, who motivated him to pursue teaching as a noble profession. Even as a student, Saravanan found great satisfaction in explaining concepts to his classmates, which made him realize that teaching was not just a career choice but a calling.
His career has been a series of stepping stones, from being a teacher to taking on leadership roles, all guided by his simple philosophy: listen, learn, and lead with integrity. This approach has shaped him into the educational leader he is today.

From Foundation to Leadership
Having started his career as a teacher at St. Michael’s Matric Hr. Sec. School in Gingee, this opportunity was more like a foundation stone for Mr. Saravanan, which helped him gain tremendous experience for the days to come. Eventually he moved to Chennai, and then served across prestigious institutions such as St. Paul’s and IDPL Matric Hr. Sec. Schools. “In 2006, I had the opportunity to be the Founder Principal of Sabari Vidhyashram Hr. Sec. School in Puducherry, which was a significant milestone as it allowed me to build an institution from the ground up”, he added.
Furthermore, while serving as the principal of another well-known school in Vellore, which he was personally credited for facilitating a strong school-parent bond, he was approached by the management of Shrishti Schools. Admiring the hard work and dedication Mr. Saravanan displayed across the schools he served at, since 2018 he has been actively working as the Head of Schools of Shrishti, positively impacting several young lives and enabling a vibrant educational community.

Mr. M. S. Saravanan as the Head of Shrishti Schools oversees the operations of Shrishti Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Shrishti Vidyashram CBSE School, and Shri Manu Makhija Memorial Shrishti Matriculation School. His role is multifaceted, with a core responsibility to ensure the holistic development of every student. Under his leadership, the schools have established Research and Development and Skill Development and Innovation Cells, which he directly oversees. Through programs designed to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and strong values, Mr. Saravanan is dedicated to preparing students for future challenges while instilling in them the values that will guide them throughout their lives.
Mr. Saravanan is a man of unique thought and attitude, and he carries forward this even in his work life as a leader to look up to. One such unique initiative/practice started by Saravanan is the monthly commute by all staff members using public transport or bicycles on the last working day, reinforcing the school’s dedication to green living. Additionally, initiatives like Parent Visitation Day started by him allows parents to engage directly with their child’s classroom experience.
In the days to come, Mr. Saravanan envisions Shrishti as a leader in futuristic education, adapting to the changing professional landscape and societal needs.
Balancing Leadership, Passion, and Professional Excellence
Despite the demands of his professional responsibilities, Saravanan credits his wife for maintaining the balance in their family life with grace. His typical day is filled with a range of activities, from administrative tasks to engaging with students and staff, ensuring the smooth operation of the school. He also makes time to reflect and recharge, which helps him stay grounded and focused.
Beyond his professional avatar, Mr. M. S. Saravanan is an author of 10 books, which is evident through his love towards writing and reading, which he shares are his twin passions. Through these hobbies the Head of Shrishti Schools exclaims that he teleports into a larger world of ideas and knowledge.
In addition to his role at Shrishti Schools, Mr. Saravanan holds several significant professional positions. He serves as a member of the Inspection Committee for CBSE school affiliations, Chairperson of the Tiruvannamalai-Vellore Sahodaya School Complex, and City Coordinator for NEET/JEE/CUET under the National Testing Agency. He is also the Chief Commissioner for Hindustan Scouts & Guides in Tamil Nadu.
