The National Testing Agency (NTA) has responded to candidates’ concerns about the Rs 200 fee charged for contesting an answer key, explaining that the charge exists to discourage baseless objections that could hold up result preparation.
According to the agency, the challenge system is structured so that any successful correction applies to every candidate who took the exam, not just the person who filed the objection.
In a post shared late Thursday night, NTA clarified that when a candidate disputes a question and subject-matter experts agree the objection is valid, the updated answer key is applied across the board for all test-takers in that exam. In effect, one legitimate challenge can trigger a correction affecting the results of lakhs of candidates.
