Pioneering Business Analytics Education
Considering the current scenario where Data is considered the new oil, and the increasing need of analytics across domains and sectors, RVIM in association with Boston IT Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. is offering a one-year Industry curated One Year Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA).
The program will be delivered in collaboration with Boston, which is a UK based company and has expanded its operations globally and has been providing training in IT solutions and AI training for a long time.
This program is targeted towards top performing individuals, while keeping the program completely in sync with the latest NEP objectives. Also, the main vision of this program is to develop analytical skills among the students, while bridging the gap between knowledge gained and the industry demands. The program is a rich blend of Experiential courses, Core courses, Skill Enhancement courses, Functional & Open electives and a Real World Capstone Project.
In Conversation with Dr. Purushottam Bung
To understand in depth what RVIM really stands for and how it distinguishes itself when compared to other business schools across the country, we interviewed Dr. Bung, the Director. Asking him on the unique initiatives and practices at RVIM, Dr. Bung shared – “We provide students and faculty with access to world-class knowledge resources, including leading educational platforms such as Coursera, HBS Publishing, Pearson’s, CESIM, and Capitaline. This ensures that our community has the tools and materials needed to stay at the forefront of their fields”. “We encourage and facilitate student participation in diverse State, National, and International level competitions, including Hackathons, Datathons, Ideathons, B-Plan competitions, and Management fests. These opportunities help students gain invaluable experience, showcase their skills, and network with peers and professionals”, the director added.
Through the conversation, the director continued on how RVIM recruits student tutors who are talented and interested in specific subjects like Accounting, IT, and Yoga. These student tutors assist faculty in teaching, fostering the concept of ‘earn while you learn’ and boosting their confidence and competence.
We asked Dr. Bung to talk on what he looks forward to achieving in the days to come for RVIM, for this the director answered – “I look forward to more active and deeper collaborations with national and international institutions of repute, and will work together with the management towards getting recognized by international accreditation agencies”. Additionally, the director aims to introduce unique and niche certification programs and to build a stronger rapport with local industries and recruiters.
Dr. Purushottam Bung – Director
An electronics engineer with a deep passion for teaching, Dr. Bung transitioned into a full-time academician and researcher after a challenging stint as an entrepreneur. Currently, he serves as Professor and Director at RV Institute of Management, Bangalore, one of India’s leading management institutions. With over 26 years of extensive experience in both academia and industry, Dr. Bung has worked across various domestic and international institutions. Prior to joining RVIM, he was the Director and Professor at KLS IMER, Belgaum, a renowned management institution in Karnataka, from July 2011. In his role at RVIM, he is responsible for the overall development and growth of the institute, including academics, research, placements, industry interface, social outreach, alumni relations, consultancy, and student grooming.
