Under the giant umbrella that is ‘Sahyadri Educational Institutions’ and under the able and inspiring leadership of Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management takes pride in having a dedicated department for research, analyzing and developing effective methods for imparting quality education.
The institute believes in giving project-based learning to the students from their initial days, and as a result, the college founded ‘Sahyadri Student Project Support Scheme (SPSS)’, an initiative is mainly driven by the concept of Project-to-Product on completion of the student’s engineering course, with immense funding and support from the college and the management. Nearly 500-600 projects are in the process of completion under this scheme.
The campus at Sahyadri is aesthetically constructed in the court yard-system, with spacious classrooms, well-equipped labs, a central library, and a beautifully designed food court. To motivate the students in the area of social innovations, the college inaugurated Sahyadri Center of Social Innovation (SCSI), helping students solve socially relevant problems through hands-on experience and practical exposure. The college is also home to new-age facilities like Government research center, an Incubation Center, Sahyadri center for Social Innovation, which includes Hands-on Experience Lab, Life Science Lab, Innovation Lab, and Makers Space. These facilities are made available to students and the faculty alike 24*7, encouraging research and out of the box thinking and most importantly to spark the inner engineers in students. To motivate innovativeness in learning and to promote application based learning, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management started the Entrepreneurship cell. Dr. Kunte added, “The students at the campus have gained national and international exposure through yearly participation in the SAE International Aero Design events, SUPRA, BAJA, and Kart racing”. From day one at college, the students take on opportunities to take part in the events held at the level of IITs, NITs and various premier institutions, thus improving their analytical skills, connectivity and better their interpersonal skills.

A dedicated Placement and Training cell exists at the institute headed by the Dean, assisted by a separate set of faculty coordinators from each department. The placement department prepares the students for the inevitable day of judgement that is the placements, from the first year of their joining. The college has an excellent record of accomplishment of achieving placements of more than 90%, the students are placed in more than 150 reputed companies every year, and the companies and industries joining the placement list grows every academic year. Meet the Principal, Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte
An exceptional academician with an experience of over 38 years in teaching, 19 years in research and 31 years of administrative experience, Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte has a PG Degree and a Doctoral Degree from Mysore University. He has served as Academic Senate member and Chairman of the Board of Studies in E&C/TC Board of VTU, Belagavi for the period 2016-19. He is also a member of the COMEDK Executive Council.
Dr. R Srinivasa Rao Kunte is a reviewer of reputed national and international journals. Govt. of Karnataka recognized his unique research work of on-line Kannada Handwritten Script Recognition and sponsored his visit to the IEEE International Conference ISPACS-2000 held at Honolulu, USA. As the current Principal of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Dr. Kunte works towards making the college an excellent place for grasping the right amount of technical education and knowledge, in pursuit of becoming successful engineers/entrepreneurs.
