Engineers keep the entire world going with their relentless effort toward building ‘something new’. Using innovation, creativity and an abundance of knowledge, engineering graduates are influencing the world unlike any other. India alone produces around 18 lakh engineers every year; and the country has to its credit 2500 engineering colleges, 1400 polytechnics and 200 schools of planning and architecture. In this relentless race, only a few Tech Hotspots are proving their mettle as go-to engineering institutes – year after year, and Sharda University has proven itself as a renowned Engineering Education brand.
A leading Educational institution based out of Greater Noida, Delhi NCR. A venture of the renowned Sharda Group of Institutions (SGI), The University has established itself as a high quality education provider with prime focus on holistic learning and imbibing competitive abilities in students. Redefining Engineering Teaching and Learning
Proud of its NAAC A+ Accreditation status, at graduate level broadly SSET offers Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication and Biotechnology. Sharda University has actively taken various initiatives to implement National Education Policy (NEP), across all the endeavors carried out on the campus. “As far as courses are concerned, apart from regular core courses we have included several courses which focus on developing soft skills and bringing out innovation and creativity to the forefront”, shared – Dr. Parma Nand, the Dean, Academic Affairs of Sharda University.
An atmosphere of inclusivity is felt across every corner, and where every student, irrespective of his/her past academic record or background, is bound to get involved in different activities, the Sharda Community enables each student to become innovative and creative. Project based learning and Research based learning has been incorporated in the curriculum which is beyond textbook and requires brainstorming, creative thinking and meticulous execution. The students have got patents granted, published research papers in SCI/Scopus indexed journals, which is phenomenal. “We also have a provision of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), where different open elective courses are offered at University level. This practice develops interdisciplinary study culture among students”, shared – Dr. Parma Nand.
To achieve and maintain the brand-value and standards set by the group of institutions, several measures have been taken up by the University. An Outcome-Based Education (OBE) system exists on the university campus, which is known to be student-centric, where the teaching and learning methodologies followed, are in pursuit of effective course delivery and assessments are planned to achieve stated objectives and outcomes. It aims at equipping learners with the knowledge, competence and orientations needed for success after they leave the institution. Adherence to the academic calendar, scheduling lectures for courses, preparation of course files and review of the course syllabus are a few of the practices that are followed to monitor and evaluate a program’s performance. Furthermore, feedback from the stakeholders, i.e. Students, Parents, Alumni and Industry Experts are collected on a regular basis and based on their inputs the curriculum gets evolved and upgraded.
The diverse and multicultural environment of Sharda University not just focuses on giving the best education and educational platforms for a student’s academic excellence but also provides opportunities to excel as tomorrow-ready-professionals. With equal emphasis being laid on vivid sports and cultural clubs, the university gives students a stage to excel. With proper trials, procedures and interviews which any student can apply for, a student’s talent is identified and welcomed which subsequently gets brushed up. The Dean-Student welfare is the umbrella department that takes care of sports, culture, NCC or NSS in all aspects at every level right from university to national level, and the Dean of the university – Dr. Parma Nand, is the main incharge of this department.
Striving to improve their existing industry-academia relationships, the University has signed more than 100 MoUs in the past few years with different industries belonging to diversified fields. Most of the MoUs involve the participation of students along with the faculties. Some of the notable collaborators are Codon Biotech Private Limited, Origin LIFE Healthcare Solutions & Research Centre, National Research Development Corporation, Microsoft Corporation (lndia) Pvt. Ltd., and many more.
SSET has recently introduced skill-oriented courses in all streams and the students are encouraged to take projects based on real life problems. The University is also ensuring that the laboratories and infrastructure are in line with advanced technologies. Addition of value aided certification courses along with professional degrees is further helping the students to acquire multiple skills. “Speaking specifically for the Sharda School of Engineering and Technology, we have made it mandatory for all the students from second year onwards to undergo industry internship, and our efforts are paying dividends and over 100 companies have offered internships to our students”, concluded – Dr. Parma Nand.
