Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra is a “Deemed University” under Sec. 3 of the U.G.C. Act 1956. Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra  established in 1955 by Mr. B M Birla.A premier technical institute and deemed University. The Birla campus spread in 780 acres. The total number of registered students across all centres – more than 10,000.

The main campus at Mesra is a wholly residential campus. Following the establishment of the main campus in Mesra, extension centres have been established in several regions of India including Jaipur, Noida, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, and Deoghar as well as offshore centres in Ras al-Khaimah, UAE and Muscat, Oman.
