Situated in Mylapore, P. S. Senior Secondary School is built on a sprawling campus in the cultural hub of the city of Chennai. With a  strength of 2700+ students, this co-educational institution affiliated to the CBSE, has been a hallmark of quality education and is known for personality development of its pupils since its inception in 1976. The school, which functions under the aegis of the century old P. S. Senior Secondary School have proved their mettle in international Olympiads, debates, inter-school competitions in several fields including arts, sports, quiz etc., and have also traveled across the world to win laurels and global recognition. The school is proud that all the three past principals have been recipients of the coveted Best Teacher Award given by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). And, with a dedicated band of 170+ academic staff and state of the art infrastructural facilities, the school is committed towards continuing their tireless efforts in contributing to nation building by providing an enriching educational experience to its students.

Senior Secondary School focuses on its Vision to create an enabling environment providing relevant opportunities and experiences which equip the students with knowledge and skills, as well as, the right attitude and values required to face life with courage and conviction.  Following a student-centric approach to learning, the teachers act as coaches and facilitators in the learning process. Various learning methods are employed – activity based learning, project based learning, art integrated learning, experiential learning to inculcate critical thinking and problem solving skills amongst students. The teachers double up as mentors who are approachable by students at all times to provide the much needed guidance for not only academic issues but also other challenges that they may face at the personal front; The teachers identify students that require personalised coaching and organise remedial classes for their academic progress early on; Career counseling programs are organized frequently for students which enables students to interact with people from the industry belonging to various fields.. There is a student counselor who also helps the students alongside the teachers, particularly  for dealing with emotional / mental issues.

The students from primary, middle school onwards are taught practical application through usage of computers present in the Junior Computer Labs and in Junior Science labs.  The senior classes access the state-of-the-art Physics, Biology and Chemistry lab facilities where they learn the practical aspect of theories taught. The Senior Computer lab is equipped with robust servers; Also, the school has introduced Artificial Intelligence subjects for students where there are practical applications involved and various clubs such as the Eco club, Quiz club etc., to hone the different skills and interests of the students.

The institution is one among those 15 schools selected by SASTRA (Deemed to be University) for setting up Sastra-CNR Rao Lab at the campus. Every year, project day is conducted – where children learn through creating working and practical models;some of the projects displayed included Plant Biology, Art & Architecture,Fluid Dynamics,etc. Eminent people such as Dr. Rayala Suresh Kumar, Professor, Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras have been invited to preside and inaugurate the Science Project Day.

Dr. Revathy Parameswaran – Principal, HOD (Mathematics)

Dr. Revathy Parameswaran received her Ph. D in Mathematics from Chennai Mathematical Institute, and has 30 years of teaching experience of handling classes 11 & 12. She received the distinguished Fulbright award in 2012 and spent 4 months in College of Education, University of Maryland. She has published papers on mathematics education in international journals. She gave oral presentations in the International Congress of Mathematics Education in 2012 (Seoul) and 2016 (Germany). .She also received the Best Teacher award from Ramanujan Academy of Math talent, Global teacher accreditation from British Council, P.S. School Meritorious teacher award, and Kola Perumal Schools’ award for Best Teacher. She has authored books for Macmillan and for class 11 mathematics for SCERT. She has served the CBSE as a Head Examiner for Classes 10 & 12 Exams. As a resource person for Centre of Excellence CBSE Chennai she regularly conducts workshops on mathematics , Leadership and education related topics. She has conducted several workshops for teachers on technology-enabled learning and activity-based teaching methods for schools in Tamil Nadu and Kerala Sahodaya.
